Your first Service Automation use case can be one small outcome

Autom Mate Team · Practical example

You do not need to automate an entire employee lifecycle to start using Service Automation. Pick a small result your team can see and explain.

A good starter exercise is request intake: accept a request, prepare a consistent summary and inspect what the service produced. It introduces the lifecycle without changing customer accounts.

  1. Define one outcome, such as “prepare a request summary containing the supplied reference and request type.”
  2. Build and release one Execute Work Item for that task. Give any required inputs clear names.
  3. Create a service with one API entry, shown as Webhook in the designer, and add that released Work Item.
  4. Review phase behavior and create a development deployment. Send a controlled POST request using the actual deployed input contract.
  5. Open the matching Service Case. Check its environment, version and action data against the expected summary.

Example check: the request reference and description in the log match the fictional input you supplied.

An Execute-only exercise can teach the service path. For a production outcome, add the appropriate checks and a Prove Work Item that verifies the intended result.
