Employee offboarding: track access removal without losing the handover

Autom Mate Team · Practical example

Offboarding is more than disabling an account. Use Autom Mate to track access removal, equipment return and ownership changes separately.

Put the steps in the right order

  1. Start from an authorised leaver record. Capture the employee ID, effective time, manager and systems in scope.
  2. Confirm the plan. Identify access to remove, equipment to recover and records that need a new owner. Follow your organisation’s retention decisions.
  3. Remove access at the agreed time. Call the configured identity and application actions. Keep each system’s response against the request.
  4. Create the handover tasks. Route device return, mailbox ownership or unfinished work to the responsible team.
  5. Check the result. Read the target systems again and produce a short completed/pending/failed summary.

Example checklist: sign-in disabled; relevant sessions handled where supported; application access checked; laptop return assigned; business records transferred.

Do not turn a failed access-removal step into a successful overall result, or delete records just to close the task.

Completion check: access changes are confirmed in scope; any remaining handover has a named owner and due date.
